“It’s usually the things we don’t expect to hurt so much, that do,” Levi said softly, taking note in the way Lilith gripped her hand tighter. She frowned a little bit. What if this was something that neither of them could fix? The thought terrified her a bit— Lilith was important to her, and Levi couldn’t exactly see herself as a happy being if somehow, Lilith was taken away from her. “As for the situation? I think that happens with us all once in a while. It’s part of that ‘unexpected’ clause we have in our contracts.”
The problem with being told not to worry so much, was that it made Levi worry a little more. Laughing dully, she bit her lip and looked to the other female. “I care about you, so I’m going to worry. You’ve done the same for me, you know,” she told her, nodding a little turning her hand so she could grip Lilith’s in her own. She squeezed a little, hoping that maybe the touch would bring at least a little comfort to her. “I’ll get you through this and all patched up. I promise,” she said softly. Reassurance was key, and Levi intended to keep to her word.
For a couple moments, she kept holding onto Lilith’s hand. She heard the change in breathing and felt her chest tighten. Again, that concern shot through her veins and swirled around “what ifs” in her head, making her just a little uneasy. ‘Stop being so negative. You can figure this out. You’re a damn hunter, Levi. Use your head,' she told herself, nibbling her lower lip. Freeing her hand from Lilith’s for now, she took a deep breath in, then let it out slowly.
‘First order of business is to wrap that wound with something.’ Which of course, was the obvious thing to do. Gritting her teeth in thought, she shifted her hands to check her pockets. For once in her life, she’d actually remembered to tuck a pocket knife into one of her pockets— Something good in the roughness of the moment. Now, she thought about how to move from there. 'Cut your shirt, idiot.’ Moving on, that’s where she went, pulling the fabric away from her skin and raking the blade of the knife over it. The threads frayed easily after the first pass.
Now she worked at getting a hole in the fabric, and then tearing it. She pulled hard, the fabric coming undone in her hands. It took a moment to do, but she soon had a strip of fabric in her hand. “I’m gonna wrap your wound, but I’m gonna have to try to get you seated upright,” she told Lilith, frowning again. “If it hurts too much, you’re more than welcome to slap the shit out of me after.” Again, she chuckled dully. Moving back closer to the girl, she gently shifted Lilith to pull her upright and seated, as best she could. Again, that sickening crack sent a chill down her spine. “Fuck, I’m sorry!” she hissed.
“You’re seriously more than welcome to punch me once we get you out of this mess,” she said, setting to carefully makeshift bandage up Lilith.

Being sat upright caused another sharp pain to flow through the girl’s body, though she tried desperately to keep that part hidden. She was going to try her best and pull through for Levi; she knew she was going to live, for that was a fact. If it had gotten through to where she supposedly had a heart, they’d have a much bigger problem, though she didn’t say anything about that. The woman was already worried enough over her; she didn’t want to cause anymore stress.
"I won’t hit you. You didn’t mean to. I don’t like using violence against people, anyways. Sort of a bit stronger than I look. Hell, I’m just sorry to cause you all the worry,“ she lightly chuckled, looking to the girl. "I appreciate you doing this, though. Greatly. You didn’t even have to if you really wanted.” Which was what she speculated most people would have done. They would have ran off after taking one look at her current state; hoping she’d die and that she’d no longer be the one to see people off at their final resting places.
Blinking, Death slowly raised her arms. She was extremely careful, but hopefully that would help the girl in bandaging the wound. “Sorry about the mess too. While I can’t cook, however, I’ll clean this when everything’s over and done with.” She was trying to humor Levi, trying to get the situation to be a bit more light. She didn’t know what else to do; there was nothing else she could do.
"Hey, after this, would you like to go get some Chinese food or something?“ Lilith asked, lightly chuckling. "I mean, obviously I’m not going to be going anywhere in this state, but once I’m fixed.. We should try doing something together. After all, isn’t that what friends are supposed to do?”
Friends, yet it almost felt like something else. Out of everything; she’d manage to develop some type of other feeling for her- and she was terrified of it. If it somehow managed to develop, what if it ended like last time? She told herself she’d never get close to somebody, yet.. why did she feel like she could get close to this girl without worry? Without the fear of getting close to somebody else? Was it just the bloodloss talking, or was it her mind?
